“I AM • the Way (דֶּרֶךְ, deh’-rek) • the Truth (אֶמֶת, eh’-met) • and the Life (חַי, chah’ee)

Yeshua said to him,

“I AM

• the Way (דֶּרֶךְ, deh’-rek)
• the Truth (אֶמֶת, eh’-met)
• and the Life (חַי, chah’ee)

No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

There were three entrances into the Tabernacle and Temple of God:

1. the Outer Courtyard Gate,
2. the Gate to the Temple proper itself,
3. and the Veil inside the Holy of Holies.

These were reckoned by the Jews under the names

‘The Way’, ‘The Truth’, and ‘The Life’.

→ ‘The Way’ was the emblem for the gate to the Outer Courtyard – where the Brazen Altar and Brazen Laver stood. This was the place of Bloodshed and sacrifice. This prophetically pointed towards the Blood and Water of Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross. Access within God’s presence was only authorized through the shed blood of the Lamb – this was the only Way inside His abode. The Mosaic Covenant and Age all operated within this realm of sacrifice.

→ ‘The Truth’ was the emblem for the gate to the Temple and Holy Place. Beside it stood two pillars in Solomon’s Temple named Boaz and Jachin. The pillars acted as symbolic ‘witnesses’ to all the legal conduct of the Temple as performed by the Priests. (Deuteronomy 18 required the testimony of two or three witnesses to establish the veracity of a matter or testimony to be true) We leave the Brass instruments of Judgment in the Outer Courtyard, and enter within the Holy Place to the Golden Table of Shewbread, the Golden Altar of Incense, and the Golden Menorah (7-branched Lampstand). This prophetically pointed towards the Word of God (the Bread of His presence), the Ministry of Intercession (the incense ascending heavenward), and again – the Word of God (His word is a ‘Lamp’ unto our Feet).

Within this place we find the ministry of the modern Church age of Grace, being esteemed as a race of Priests and Kings – who operate within the Truth of God’s word and Revelation. The Priests would minister within the Holy Place daily.

→ ‘The Life’ was the emblem for the Veil within the Holy of Holies – the place of the direct manifest presence of God. It’s within and behind this veil that the very Spirit (ru’ach) of God settled, causing the veil and Tabernacle to have the appearance as if it were to ‘breathe’ (as if Life had entered the body, as air for Lungs) – literally the veils and skins of the Tabernacle would flutter and breathe with the moving of His Spirit.

The Golden Ark of the Covenant and Mercy Seat were placed here inside – this was the place where the High Priest alone had access, and but one day a year only. On the Day of Atonement the entire nation’s sin would be removed from it for the ceremony performed within this place. The nation of Israel had leased a new year of ‘life’ within God’s presence – all because of the blood placed on the Mercy Seat in order to satisfy God’s righteous code. (The ‘Life’ is within the Blood)

The Holy of Holies is parallel in theme and content with the original Tree of Life – where the eternal life spring flowed from in Eden. Likewise, we see the manifest presence of God equates to that Eternal Life. The Holy of Holies prophetically points forward to the Kingdom Age (the 1,000 year Millennial Rule and Reign of Christ on Earth) when we will all be within the manifest presence of God for that Day.

When Jesus (Yeshua) declared He is the Way, Truth, and Life – He was implying He was the High Priest who alone gives us access into the Tabernacle and Presence of God – even as far as into the Holy of Holies itself.

Furthermore, the Hebrew words for

• the Way (דֶּרֶךְ, deh’-rek)
• the Truth (אֶמֶת, eh’-met)
• and the Life (חַי, chah’ee)

form an ACROSTIC in Hebrew (a common form of Hebrew poetry and parallelism used within the Word of God).

→ EH-met (Truth) is spelled first with an ALEF (אֶ)
→ CH-ahee (Life) is spelled first with a CHET (חַ)
→ Deh-rek (Way) is spelled first with a DALET (דֶּ)

Taking the first of the letters of each of these words and titles of entrances into the Presence of God forms the acrostic which spells ” ECHAD ” in Hebrew – the classic Mosaic covenantal phrase and formula which speaks to the ONENESS of God.

Deuteronomy 6:4 ~ “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is ONE (ECHAD) LORD”

ECHAD in Hebrew isn’t simply a singular one (like the number ‘1’) – but a compound entity is being expressed, a plural unity. This alludes to the Triune Being and Essence of God Himself (three persons, yet one).
