The Gospel has an eternal characteristic which the Mosaic Law did not. It was the Law that was glorious but was not designed to last in terms of salvation. It did proclaim God’s standard of righteousness. It was beginning to fade away in the apostle Paul’s day. The majesty that accompanied the giving of the Law was spectacular. However, the apostle here states the bright shining of God on the face of Moses; and the ritual practices associated with it was to be done away. Its glory, therefore, great as in many respects it was directly from God, could not be compared with that which was to be permanent, the glorious Gospel of the New Covenant
