The victims were struck while standing at a southbound hitchhiking station by a commercial vehicle. The driver escaped, fleeing south, but was subsequently tracked down and arrested by Israeli forces. He was transferred to security personnel for investigation.

Both were treated at the scene by medics from Hatzalah Without Borders before being evacuated to Beilinson Medical Center in nearby Petach Tikvah.

One of the injured was moderately injured and the second victim was reported to be in good condition.

The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, told the IDF Samaria Brigade Col. Shiso that the residents of Samaria and “the entire nation of Israel are standing like a wall alongside the heroic IDF fighters. We are a strong nation and we will win,” he said.

“Abu Mazen (Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas) is trying to ignite a wave of terrorism throughout the country, and our right-wing government should treat him the way they treat a terrorist,” Dagan said.

“Abu Mazen and his fellow terrorists are testing the new government, again and again and again. If the government wants to prevent a wave of terrorism throughout the country, it must launch a determined military operation against the terrorist infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority.

“The day Abu Mazen fears a knock on the door, the area will stop burning.”
