20 Christ’s life and death in us

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us (KJV).
Paul making a clear distinction between our humble frail human bodies to the glorious indwelling of God in these as he calls them earthen vessels or jars of clay. One can ask of this wonderful knowledge who are we to experience this incredible blessing to receive this treasure of God’s presence in our lives? It is the excellency of the power of God that enables us to pursue His goals to the world and not of our own doing or enablement. This one verse is repeated in Ephesians.
Ephesians 2:8–10
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them (KJV).
These three verses in Ephesians chapter two affirm that the salvation and indwelling Hoy Spirit of God is a power He gives us in order to do His good works. It is not of ourselves that we receive that power or treasure or we would probably brag about these achievements as our work in this regard.
