Four IDF soldiers were lightly wounded after a hunting rifle was shot at them near the settlement of Halamish in the West Bank on Sunday night, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.

The soldiers were standing guard at a post on route 465 near the town of Nabi Saleh. The injured soldiers were treated at the scene.

It was initially believed that they had been injured by an IED that had been thrown at them, but an initial investigation by the IDF revealed that it had actually been a hunting rifle.

Hamas spokesman Abd al-Latif al-Qanou responded to the attack on Sunday night, saying: “The escalation of resistance operations today in the West Bank, the latest of which was recently in Ramallah, confirms that our rebellious people in the West Bank have launched a new stage in confronting the occupation and confronting its crimes against our people and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that the confrontations and operations will expand and move to various regions.”

Shortly after the attack, Israeli forces closed the entrance to the Nabi Saleh village, according to Palestinian reports.
