Romans 15:1
1We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves (KJV).
Ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. The word for ought is present tense, showing that stronger believers always have this obligation. We will experience frustration with the weak. The failings of the weak frustrate us because to us that know the purpose and strength of Christ’s law and His judgments their concerns and worries to us, seems trivial. But the responsibility lies with the strong to maintain cohesion amongst members in the church by bearing with these brothers and sisters. We must bring them along to experience full understanding and obedience to Christ’s law.
