76–Jerusalem Delivered

The near-term reference is to the Assyrian to Sennacherib, and his raid into Judah in Hezekiah’s fourteenth year, and the Lord’s intervention due to Hezekiah’s prayers. However, because of the nature of the prophecy and its final outcome, which will be easily seen from chapter 35 it has not yet been fulfilled. The definitive final fulfilment of the prophecy is future, and it is important to identify the spoiler and crafty one. The godly remnant of Israel will have two enemies. One is the Assyrian, and the second is the Antichrist who will run the one world empire, of absolute imperialism. He will be a man of violence, who gains his ends by craft (Daniel 8:25). This chapter must be considered to both identify a near term violent man and a far term violent one too. The last four verses of this section describe the Jews fleeing in the Tribulation after being warned by Jesus. This provides additional validation that we are dealing with a far term prophecy in this section. At the end of each despot, Sennacherib and the future Antichrist God will eliminate them to their final demise.During the Great Tribulation, there will be Jews fleeing Jerusalem, particularly the Faithful Remnant. Jordan is given special protection during the last great invasion of Israel which will in fact devastate the Land. Isaiah the Prophet instructs the believing remnant of Israel to find a safe hiding place during the time of Jacob’s trouble when God’s judgment will fall on the whole earth,
