DONALD Trump’s new Britain friendly Commerce Secretary is expected to make securing a trade deal with the UK high on his list of priorities after the billionaire businessman takes the oath of office, flying in the face of Barack Obama’s doom-mongering claims.

Trump’s trade pick Wilbur Ross Jr. has extensive links the the UK both financially and socially, and insiders have claimed his appointment is good news for the British economy.

His close ties with Britain follow on from Trump, who has described himself as an anglophile and is believed to be excited to meet the Queen in upcoming state visits.

An insider told the Daily Telegraph: “It would be logical to expect that this might be high on the commerce department’s list of priorities.”
