BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – The Chinese media reported, citing informed sources, that their army suffered losses in a border clash with Indian soldiers on Monday.

The editor-in-chief of the Chinese Global Times said on Tuesday: “The Chinese army has suffered casualties in a border clash with Indian soldiers,” but did not specify the death toll.

“Based on what I know, the Chinese side also suffered injuries in the Galluan Valley clash,” Hu Xi Jin said in a tweet. He did not give further details.

The Indian Army confirmed that they lost 20 soldiers during the brief battle with the Chinese military, adding that one officer was among the dead.

This week’s clash between the Chinese and Indian forces was the deadliest battle between the two sides since their conflict in 1967.
