If someone still believes Erdogan’s fable of supporting legitimacy and democracy in Libya, more recent facts prove otherwise. It’s clear that the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan went to Libya for the purpose of controlling the resources of Libyan people and also to revive the defeated Ottoman Empire, using the Muslim Brotherhood Libyan wing to reach his expansionary goals. The weak Libyan political class represented by characters such as Fayez al-Serraj, Fathi Pashagha, Ali al-Salabi, Khaled al-Meshri, and AbdulRahman Sewehli facilitated Erdogan’s mission. Those unscrupulous actors eager not to lose their countless benefits at the cost of selling their country.
Since the 2011 revolution, the Muslim Brotherhood has had the sole aim of destroying Libyan institutions, including the army and police, so that they can act without control in the race for personal enrichment. They have opposed by any means to any effort of national reconciliation, have conducted business with countless state and non-state actors, reducing the Libyan people to poverty after depriving them of their resources. The same politicians, with whom Erdogan is dealing, allowed terrorist groups to settle in Libya, to take control of entire cities, only to fight them after they threatened their interests.
While the Libyans were lined up at the bank for hours to take their salaries, Serraj, Pashagha, Meshri, Sewehli, their families, and the militia leaders, founded millionaire companies, travel on luxury planes, spend crazy nights in Malta and Tunisia with all kinds of fun. They drive luxury Mercedes with tinted windows and squander Libyan money, paying for the silence of the international community.
Since the beginning of the Libyan National Army (LNA) military operations to free Tripoli from criminals and terrorist groups, the Muslim Brotherhood’s narrative has been to defend democracy and the marital status. But what happened in recent days, in the areas conquered by the armed gangs affiliated to the Al-Wefaq government and the Syrian mercenaries of Erdogan, shows the bitter reality.
After setting fire to dozens of houses, public and private properties, killing animals, men, women, and their children, with indiscriminate bombing and fixed-wing attacks, the Tripoli and Misrata militias confirmed their diabolical actions. A video shot in Tarhouna shows a man suspected of supporting the Libyan army while being sexually tortured, burned, and tortured by Turkish officers and Misurata’s terrorist militias.A group of Egyptian migrants were taken hostage by al-Wefaq extremist groups in a labor camp. They were forced to jump on one leg, insulting Egyptian President al-Sisi and army commander Khalifa Haftar.
Dozens of young people have been kidnapped for political reasons, while civilians and journalists are intimidated by violent acts of revenge.Syrian mercenaries broke into Libyan homes, took possession of their belongings, sometimes their women. They burned and attacked infrastructure, robbed and extorted money from civilians in combat areas. What will become of them when this war ends?More and more Syrian fighters, transferred to Tripoli from Erdogan, aim to reach the European coasts. This is their final destination.
A user on Facebook wrote yesterday in a group of Syrian community in Italy: “are there rescue ships in the Mediterranean Sea off the Libyan coast that can help us?”.
