Reliable sources have informed SOHR that the International Coalition Forces stationed in Al-Tanaf base at Iraq-Jordan-Syria borders triangle have instructed their loyal Maghawir Al-Thawra faction to be put on high alert and deployed in the perimeter of the base which is located at the 55-kilometre zone in the Syrian desert, fearing retaliatory attacks by Iran-backed militiamen on the anniversary of Qassem Soleimani’s death.

On the other hand, SOHR sources have reported that Coalition forces stationed in Al-Tanaf base were preparing shelters and bulwarks to protect the forces from any possible attacks that may be carried out by Iran-backed militia.

On December 27, 2021, the US forces and Maghawir Al-Thawra faction conducted joint drill with live ammunition in Al-Tanaf base at the eastern border of Syria with Jordan and Iraq.
