Fears Return Over German Chancellor Merkel’s Well-Being as She Appears Shaking Again

Speculation about Angela Merkel’s health issues began flying around after she was seen trembling at a welcoming ceremony for Ukraine’s newly-minted president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in Berlin last week.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel appeared shaky again as she attended an official ceremony to appoint a new justice minister in Berlin on Thursday.

Standing alongside President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Schloss Bellevue, the president’s official residence, Angela Merkel was filmed holding her arms across the chest, while her legs appeared to be trembling visibly.

You can see it past the 8:00-minute mark in the video below.

Last Tuesday, Angela Merkel was seen shaking repeatedly as she stood next to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a red-carpet ceremony outside the chancellery, while a military band played their national anthems.

At a press conference that followed, the 64-year-old German leader blamed the shakiness on dehydration.

“I’ve drunk at least three glasses of water, which I apparently needed, and now I’m doing very well,” she said.

Indeed, Germany has been sweltering in a heatwave that sweeped Europe this month. The temperatures that hit 40 degrees Celcius in parts of the country prompted German authorities to introduce speed restrictions for high-speed motorways and caused wildfires outside Berlin.
