Hamas demands compensation for long-term calm

Hamas said on Sunday that in order for a long-term calm to take place, Israel must give something in exchange and fully implement the commitments it has made over the years to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, including the lifting of the security blockade there.

In a statement detailing the content of talks held by Hamas leader Ismail Haniya in Cairo last week with Egyptian intelligence officials, Hamas leaders warned of Israel’s rejection of these issues and the delay in implementing its commitments.
