He Had You in His Sights

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

“Get them in sight of Calvary” was the cry of Charles Spurgeon to his associate pastors. This is so true in so many ways if we are going to affect the lives of others. We ought always to be careful to point people to the Cross of Jesus Christ. We can spend time studying the Word or find ourselves fixated on the most recent world event, but we ought to always be serious about pointing others to the Cross of Jesus Christ.
It’s the Cross that took the life of God’s only Son. It’s the Cross where my sin-debt was paid by Him so that that I might be free. It’s the Cross that opened the way to eternal life.
My heart’s desire above all things this year is that you may know Him, the One “…who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
If you know Him as Lord and Savior, then He has become your joy and salvation. Having just witnessed the dawning of a new year, my prayer is that you understand His great love for you and that you would humble yourself in His presence so that you might walk with Him throughout 2017.There has never been a better time than now for you to know God and to experience His saving grace which can only come through Jesus Christ.
