The Al-Manar media outlet reported on Sunday that Hezbollah has discovered an Israeli espionage device on the Barouk Mountain. In 2010, the Lebanese army claimed that it discovered similar devices in the area.
The Hezbollah-affiliated Lebanese media outlet Al-Manar, reported on Sunday that the Hassan Nasrallah’s organization discovered an Israeli espionage device on the Barouk Mountain, which is located in the Beqaa Valley near Lake Qaraoun. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit refused to comment on the matter, stating that it does not address foreign reports.
This is not the first time that Hezbollah has claimed that it has discovered Israeli espionage devices in the Beqaa Valley. In 2010, the Lebanese army even claimed that it discovered similar gadgets.
The Barouk Mountain has been linked to several events in Israel’s history in Lebanon. During the First Lebanon War, the IDF established its northernmost base in Lebanon on the mountain. From the mountain, Hezbollah’s activities in the area and southern Lebanon can be observed.
