Ephesians 5:17
“Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

When a friend asked what I thought God’s will might be for him regarding a certain situation in his life, I recalled a Bible verse that applied to his issue. He immediately clung to that verse and I thought to myself what a profound act of faith he was displaying. He was in a situation and rather than panic, he turned to seek God’s guidance and direction for an answer. I was both delighted and comforted with him as together we read the answer from the Bible.
God’s purpose and plan for your life has been revealed in His Word. We would do ourselves good if we literally and simply consulted God’s Word for every situation of life. The best thing you can do in any given situation is to trust God, pick up His Word and read it. For example, regarding God’s will and decision making, embark upon a slow read of the book of Proverbs. Perhaps you’re in need of inspiration or direction, then turn to the book of Psalms and meditate on all that is said there.
A deliberate and intentional approach to reading God’s Word will produce a lifetime of instruction and wisdom bringing about an acceptance and understanding of His will for your life.
