Iran claims to have arrested a squad of 14 insurgents who, according to senior officials in the Iranian justice system, were planning attacks in Iranian territory at the behest of Israel.

The Iranian news service Tasnim quotes an official in the Iranian justice system, who claims that local security forces managed to uncover in northwestern Iran the network of 14 agents in the service of Israel, who planned to assassinate various personalities in Iran.

The source did not specify who were the targets of the assassination squad that he claimed worked for Israel. “The 14 members of the network connected to Israel were arrested while they were trying to identify and assassinate a number of individuals,” the official was quoted as saying.

In recent months, the authorities in Iran have claimed several times that they managed to uncover squads that worked in the service of Israel, spied on Iran, and even planned to carry out operations against the regime. Some of the detainees were sentenced to death and executed in public.
