A Palestinian woman carrying a knife was arrested by Israeli border police near the Damascus gate in Jerusalem.

According to the Jerusalem police spokeswoman, the woman, who is in her 50-s, was arrested after waving the knife at the security personnel.

Following the arrest, she was brought in for questioning.

The Damascus gate is the main entry into the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem’s historic old city, which is home to many of the Jerusalem’s sacred sites, including the Western Wall and the Temple Mount.

Earlier this week, the Temple Mount saw riots during Friday prayers, with the police entering the area to quell the unrest.
