Efforts to recover the body of 18-year-old Israeli citizen Tiran Ferro, who died in a car crash near Jenin on Tuesday and whose body was then abducted by a group of Palestinian gunmen, are ongoing on Wednesday morning.
Significant progress has been made by the Palestinian Authority and the mayor of Jenin in the negotiations with the gunmen but the body has not yet been handed over to the authorities, Walla reported.
In an attempt to pressure the group into returning the body, Israeli security forces have closed the border crossings into the Jenin area.
What happened to the body of an Israel teenager who died in Jenin?
Palestinians stole the body of a young Israeli who was killed in a car crash near Jenin on Tuesday, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.
The Israeli citizen, reportedly 18-year-old Druze teenager Tiran Ferro from Daliat al-Carmel in northern Israel, entered the Jenin area with another Israeli through the Gilboa Crossing and was ultimately killed in a car accident. The other citizen is in serious condition and has been transferred for further treatment in Israel.
The IDF stressed that it expects the body to be returned to the family.
Despite the boy reportedly being a high school student, Palestinian media claimed that he was an IDF soldier.
Initial reports indicate that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad-affiliated Jenin Brigade terrorist group was responsible for stealing the body.
