Lapid: Ukraine war shows Israel cannot count on anyone else to defend it

More from Lapid after his meeting with Blinken: The foreign minister says the latest events in Ukraine are a reminder that Israel can count on no one else to defend it.

Ukraine has called for military assistance during Russia’s invasion. Though the world is supplying it with humanitarian and military aid, nations have repeatedly refused to intervene militarily, including enforcing a no-fly zone over Ukraine to limit Russia’s ability to operate in the skies.

Noting that Israel reserves the right to act militarily against Iran’s nuclear program, Lapid says: “This war is a reminder to Israel. We have friends, we have allies, but our security must always be in our hands only.”
