In this session Jesus gives his disciples instruction on entrance into the kingdom. There are two ways – the narrow door and the wide road. Jesus says He is the narrow way, no one can enter the kingdom other than thru Jesus.
Again the Pharisees try to trap Him but He turns the tables on them. Jesus gives a parable of the Great Banquet where the generation of His day who rejected Him on the basis that He was demon possessed reject the invitation. God is the host and He gave the invitation to the banquet; the prophets prepared the feast and the first servant to go out to declare the supper was ready was John the Baptizer and after him came Jesus, but the Jewish leadership declined the invitation.
The invitation was then extended to those in need and the servant found those in the city and those from the country, the Gentiles. The generation of His day had all sorts of excuses as to why they couldn’t come. The generation which rejected the invitation would fail to see the kingdom at that time or in the age to come.
