Living From Christ

Reflections

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places. (Eph. 1:19-20)

We could say that there are two power sources in each believer – our natural man, and Christ. We will live from out of one or the other – by faith we draw upon either for our living. This is why the work of the Cross is necessary – we must be made weak in our natural man so that all of our faith might be in Christ, who is the power of God.

God will create one situation after another in the life of the believer that presses us out of measure – that exposes the lack of life in our natural man. God isn’t really MAKING us weak, but showing us that we have always been weak. He is actually showing us the Truth about ourselves.

Of one such experience in his life, Paul said, “But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raises the dead.” (2 Cor 1:9) There it is. Do we want to be guided into all Truth? Well, this is the Truth – that there is nothing in us by which we can walk with Christ. But in Christ there is all that we need for living.
