Macron: Hoping new government renews peace process

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed hope the new Israeli government would renew the peace process with the PA.

“I hope that the new government will work to resume negotiations for a just and lasting peace with the Palestinians, based on a two-state solution, in the spirit of our positions,” Macron told Ma’ariv, adding: “France is ready to contribute to the process while respecting everyone’s legitimate aspirations. I worked to put an end to the recent round of fighting together with Egypt and Jordan, but additional steps need to be made. We are committed to Israel’s security and its right to defend itself within the framework of international law.”
