According to new revelations that were unveiled in satellite imagery from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is expanding its underground missile silo arsenal. New evidence revealed that the IRGC is constructing seven new silos in southern Iran, as first reported by The National News.
The various missile assets are situated near the southern Iranian town of Haji Abad. There is suspicion that the directional placement of the missiles indicates their target – in this case, Saudi Arabia. In addition to the seven new silos, the area is a significant storage location for numerous other missiles varying in size.
An analyst from IISS said that “This hardened site is particularly interesting as it’s the first one that’s been developed specifically to launch their solid-fuel missiles. We also believe it’s for their longer-range missiles, based on a number of factors.”
A couple of the missiles stored in the region are the Dzpoul and Haj Qassem, which reportedly have a range expanding across the Persian Gulf.
