IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkott said Tuesday that the two primary perils facing Israel come from Hizballah and the Iranian military industry. In a lecture on Israel’s security situation at the Herzliya meeting, he described Hizballah as armed with tens of thousands of rockets spread out across 200 south Lebanese villages just across the border. Eisenkott said that Iran’s military industry’s development must be stopped “before it grows into North Korea 2.” He was clearly referring to long-range ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. The chief of staff said this week’s Iranian missile strike on targets inside Syria (Sunday) had grave strategic ramifications.
