PA keeps Emirates out of EastMed Gas Forum

The Palestinian Authority vetoed the UAE’s entry into the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum, of which Israel is also a member, as reported this morning by Reshet Bet.

According to the report, at the forum’s meeting held yesterday (Tuesday) in Cairo, the energy ministers of Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Italy, Greece, Cyprus and the PA discussed accepting France, the United States and United Arab Emirates coming onboard the organization.

The requests on behalf of the United States and France were accepted, but the United Arab Emirates were rejected after the PA representative voted against. Since every decision in the organization requires unanimous approval, opposition from the PA prevented the Emirates from entering the group.
