Palestinian armed with knives caught entering southern Israel from Gaza

A Palestinian man armed with knives is detained by community security officers after crossing into Israel from the southern Gaza Strip, a spokesperson for the Eshkol region says.

The suspected enters the Hevel Shalom area, near the borders of Israel, Gaza and Egypt, before he is “neutralized” by local security officers, according to the Eshkol spokesperson.

Residents of Hevel Shalom are being asked to remain in their homes while security forces search the area to ensure no one else entered Israeli territory.

“The circumstances are still not clear,” the spokesperson says.
