Palestinian factions plotting violent third intifada: report

Palestinians take part in an anti-Israel protest in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah on October 13, 2015.

‘The first Intifada and the second Intifada achieved a lot for the Palestinian cause,’ senior PLO member says

Fatah, Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and other Palestinian factions are plotting a violent uprising — intifada — against Israel, Palestinian Media Watch NGO reported Thursday.

The NGO cited a broadcast on official Palestinian Authority TV channel featuring Wasel Abu Yusuf, a member of the PLO Executive Committee, which aired July 28.

The broadcast referred to a statement issued earlier following a PLO-Fatah meeting, which included such language as “working to establish a united national front for popular resistance resulting in a comprehensive intifada.”

The host specifically asked whether the intifada in question was supposed to be a peaceful, non-violent one, to which Wasel Abu Yusuf responded with a categorical “no.”

Explaining that the new rebellion will be a “comprehensive” one, he added that “the first Intifada and the second Intifada achieved a lot for the Palestinian cause.”

The first intifada lasted from December 1987 until either 1991 or 1993, as per different commentators. The second one was taking place from 28 September 2000 until 8 February 2005.

The two rebellions account for an estimated total of some 1,300 Israeli deaths.

Earlier, the Palestinian Media Watch reported that the PA was also inciting terror attacks on Israelis through its official broadcasts.
