US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday released a statement saying “The Department of State will notify Congress of my intent to designate Ansarallah – sometimes referred to as the Houthis – as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) […] and as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) entity,” as well as 3 of its leaders as SDGTs.
“These designations will provide additional tools to confront terrorist activity and terrorism by Ansarallah, a deadly Iran-backed militia group in the Gulf region,” Pompeo said.
