Quds Day 2019 – Iran
Quds Day was named by Ayatollah Khomeini as an official day to support the Palestinian people. On August 7, 1979, in a message addressed to the Muslims of Iran and the world, the last Friday of Ramadan was called the Quds Day, urging Muslims around the world and Islamic countries to join each other in limiting the government of Israel and its supporters.
The Quds Day demonstrations, which is held every year on the last Friday of Ramadan, according to Iran’s state media, this year has been held in 950 cities throughout Iran. The Quds Day march, as always, was held with anti-Israeli and anti-American slogans. This year, with the promotion and organization of government institutions, a crowd was drawn to the streets. More than 4,000 reporters, photographers, 250 of whom international journalists, covered the ceremony.
Qasem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC’s Quds force posted a tweet with the hashtag #QudsDay, saying “Painful images that we see from Palestine have broken our hearts, a sorrow that has a deep anger within itself. That anger will descend upon the Zionists in the right time.”
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei, said: “Regarding the Palestinian issue, what is at stake is to rescue Palestine, and the annihilation of the state of Israel. Palestine will certainly see a day when the Zionist regime no longer exists. The annihilation of Israel from the region is a permanent issue for the Islamic Republic of Iran. In the Islamic Republic, the issue of Palestine is not a tactical issue for us, it is not a political strategy, it is a matter of belief, and it is a matter of faith.”
Social media sources affiliated with the IRGC, known as Officers of Soft War, published pictures showing the presence of a group of young people from the International Front of Resistance a.k.a. ‘Shabab Al-Mumbah’ [Youth of Resistance] in today’s Quds march in Tehran. Officers of Soft War also reported the presence of Hashd Al-Shabi forces among the crowd who participated in the Quds Day march entitled ‘No to Deal of Century’. Farsi-speaking social media users also posted images of Bahrain’s Shiite leaders’ participation in Quds Day in Qom city.
Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly [parliament], said in a speech before Tehran’s Friday prayer: “The situation in the region today is different from the past. Resistance and the Resistance Front today are more powerful. The behavior of the Americans has been ruder than the past against the Palestinians, and you have seen the American actions to move their embassy to Jerusalem, which they did it in noisy manner; that was an insult to all Muslims. The essence of that move by the Americans was a conspiracy against the Muslims, and that is the eradication of the symbols of Islam. It was an adventurous and ridiculous act that a state from overseas would present a land to the Israelis.
Larijani pointed out to the Deal of Century and said: “They said that they would like to solve the [Israeli-Palestinian] problem through the Deal of Century. The very same title suggests a profit-driven core in American politics. The term Deal shows that Americans, where there is matter of a people’s honor and religion, uses the term Deal, which indicates the absurdity of their political thought. This is rooted in their philosophical thinking. American civilization is based on exploitative philosophy; and justice, honor, friendship, fulfillment of promises, and dozens of other ethical virtues, only have meaning when there is benefit for them.
Interestingly, Trump’s sun-in-law, a Jewish businessman, is responsible for this project. Trump himself has said that his son-in-law loves Israel; and now he is responsible for solving the problem that has existed for 70 years with political conflict. Many senior leaders in the region are also worried about this behavior by the US. Now, perhaps, they dare not to say it openly, but have mentioned this at the meetings we have with them.”
Larijani added: “Americans are undoubtedly seeking the humiliation and the plundering of Muslims.”
A resolution was read at the end of the Quds Day march this year
“We announce our all-round support for the Front of Resistance and serious confrontation with the ill-fated plans of the foolish president [of the USA] against Islamic countries, and the vulgar conspiracy called the ‘Deal of Century’. We strongly condemn the commitment of some reactionary heads of state in some Arab countries who are making efforts to normalize ties with the fake regime [Israel in Islamic Republic terms] and the usurpers of the first Qiblah of Muslims, and the so called economic Zionist-American summit in Manama, Bahrain.
We believe and emphasize that the only solution to the Palestine issue is the persistence of intifada and resistance to the universal infidelity front under the leadership of the Great Satan, America – the absolute refusal of any kind of compromise and surrender to the elimination of the cancerous land of Israel – the return of the Palestinian refugees from all over the world, and the holding of a free referendum to guarantee the future of this country is endorsed by the strategy of ‘All Palestine for All Palestinians’ and ‘Palestine from the Sea to the River’.”
