The IDF confirmed on Monday evening that terrorists from Gaza launched a rocket that exploded in the sea, near Ashdod, and caused no injuries or damage.

The security establishment continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The last time a rocket was identified as having been fired from Gaza was nine days ago. In that incident, the rocket exploded in an open area inside the Gaza Strip.

The “Red Alert” incoming rocket siren was not activated because the rocket exploded before it could cross into Israel.

Earlier this month, Israel began implementing an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire, expanding Gaza’s fishing zone in an agreement which would end incendiary and explosive balloons sent from Gaza into Israel, as well as put an end to rocket attacks on Israel.

Hamas later claimed the ceasefire talks were progressing, and then urged the United Nations to speed up another part of the agreement: the transfer of Qatari aid to Gaza.
