Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, accused US troops stationed in the Baltic States of being actively involved in “provocative actions in Eastern Europe.”

“It cannot be ignored that US troops that have recently arrived in Poland and the Baltic States have engaged in ‘historical activities’ with clear anti-Russian intentions,” said Zakharova, who was quoted on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Zakharova pointed out to “a memorial march in honor of the so-called ‘doomed soldiers,’ members of the Polish anti-communist underground, who shot Red Army soldiers in the back while they [the Russian soldiers] were liberating their country from the Nazis.”

“This ‘march to the East,’ to Narva, ended with the taking of an official photograph of Estonian and American soldiers, and in the background was the Ivangorod fortress on our side of the border,” she added.

“We are convinced that these dubious actions will, at the very least, cast a shadow on the United States and Russia’s joint struggle against Nazism,” the official spokesman of Russian Foreign Affairs stated.
