When we are new and do not understand, we think that if God would simply prove Himself to us — by either removing difficulty or by adding blessing — THEN we could have more faith. We want Him to give us some proof that He is there. But God isn’t likely to do this. Rather, God will bring us to the place where we are able to believe Him — regardless of the presence of difficulty, the lack of blessing, and despite not having what we might have wanted as evidence of God’s faithfulness. This is possible only by being brought into an inner realization of Jesus Christ — that we might know Him. To know Him, and believe Him — in the face of NO evidence otherwise — is a miracle possible only through the work of God in us. Yet it is what real faith is all about — it is to know and believe Christ, who Himself in us is THE evidence of God.
