The Nature of the Church Part I

The word Church has many contemporary usages. One can use the word referencing a source of a set of moral absolutes for human beings. Others view the various buildings with names on them such as Baptist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic as being a Church. Still others use people who populate these buildings as the Church. The Bible provides us with two usages of this term. It divides the meaning of this term into the Church as being visible and as being invisible. The Church that the Lord Jesus created and what the Bible describes in great detail is the invisible Church. Therefore, what we will be examining in large measure is the invisible Church. The Church is stated to be the Body of the Messiah.
Colossians 1:18
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence (KJV).
The composition of this Body, that is, the “invisible” Church, is given in Ephesians 2:11-16.
