President Donald Trump is ready to secure a peace deal between Israel and Syria, should the Jewish State agree to a ceasefire with the Hamas terror group in Gaza, according to a new report.

White House sources told Israel Hayom that the Trump administration is seeking a “regional breakthrough” during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing visit to the White House.

Trump is determined “to stop the killing in Gaza,” the outlet reported, adding that the U.S. leader believes a regional framework, including Israel’s neighbor Syria, is the ideal way to achieve a long-term truce.

A Trump envoy recently traveled to Damascus and is working to finalize an agreement between Israel and Syria, Israel Hayom reported.

The agreement, which is secured by U.S. guarantees, is expected to be completed within days.

The Trump administration recently announced it would lift sanctions on the Al-Tahrir organization, which was previously defined as a terror group.

Al-Tahrir was led by Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa before he seized control of the country, following the ouster of longtime dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Trump believes that a Syria peace deal would give Netanyahu diplomatic momentum for ending the conflict in Gaza, according to Israel Hayom.

Last week, an Israeli official told the Times of Israel that “there is absolutely an aspiration to expand the Abraham Accords, and it’s no secret that we want to see Syria in this.”

The official added that “there may be an opportunity.”

Earlier in July, following a flurry of reports about normalization talks, a Syrian government-controlled TV news channel appeared to pour cold water on the claims.

“Statements concerning signing a peace agreement with the Israeli occupation at this time are considered premature,” the outlet quoted an unnamed official as saying.

“It is not possible to talk of the possibility of negotiations over a new agreement unless the occupation fully adheres to the 1974 disengagement agreement and withdraws from the areas it has penetrated,” the report added.
