Wednesday marks the third day in a row that American forces have been targeted in the Middle East as Tehran seeks to push the U.S. out of the region.
This week, Ain al-Asad Air Base in western Iraq was targeted by rockets from Iranian proxy militia groups for the second time. Wednesday’s attack included a minimum of more than a dozen rockets being fired at the base, resulting in the injuries of two people. Rockets reportedly impacted the base and the surrounding territory.
Additionally, the militia groups fired drones at a U.S. coalition base in eastern Syria on Wednesday, which American and U.S.-backed Syrian troops ultimately thwarted. On Monday, al-Asad was targeted with rockets as well.
Wednesday’s rocket attack was the third straight day that Iranian-backed groups in the region had targeted U.S. forces. On Tuesday, several rockets and drones targeted the U.S. base located at the Erbil airport. No damage or injuries occurred.
