United Arab Emirates’ Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan speaks during a joint news conference with Algeria’s Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum in Algiers, Algeria January 27, 2020.The United Arab Emirates will not support any post-war reconstruction in Gaza unless there is a concrete plan for establishing a Palestinian state, according to Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Saturday.

Speaking via X, Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that the UAE’s involvement in Gaza’s recovery would be contingent upon addressing the longstanding demand for Palestinian statehood.

“The United Arab Emirates is not ready to support the day after the war in Gaza without the establishment of a Palestinian state,” Sheikh Abdullah posted, underscoring the nation’s stance on prioritizing a two-state solution for long-term peace.

His comments come as the region grapples with the aftermath of the conflict in Gaza and reflects the UAE’s broader regional diplomatic efforts.

UAE’s position endorsed

The UAE’s position was echoed during a recent Joint Ministerial Contact Group meeting in Madrid, where representatives from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and several other nations reinforced their commitment to a two-state solution based on international law.

The group condemned ongoing violence and reiterated that a sustainable resolution must include the fulfillment of Palestinian rights and security guarantees for Israel.

In addition, the Muslim World League voiced support for this diplomatic effort, further highlighting the growing consensus among Arab and Muslim states. Sheikh Abdullah’s statement aligns with a broader call for a political resolution that ensures lasting peace through the establishment of a Palestinian state.
