US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said today that the international organization has run out of options in dealing with North Korea’s nuclear program. “We’re trying every other possibility that we have but there’s a whole lot of military options on the table,” Haley said.
US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley stated today (Sunday) that the UN Security Council has exhausted all of the options at hand in order to restrict North Korea’s nuclear program and that the US may have to hand the issue over to US Defense Secretary James Mattis. “We’ve pretty much exhausted all the things that we can do at the Security Council at this point,” Haley told CNN.
“We wanted to be responsible and go through all diplomatic means to get their attention first,” Haley added. “If that doesn’t work, General Mattis will take care of it. We’re trying every other possibility that we have but there’s a whole lot of military options on the table.”
As reported earlier by JOL, US President Donald Trump also addressed the issue of North Korea’s controversial missile launches and mocked the country’s leader, Kim Jong-un. “I spoke with President Moon of South Korea last night,” Trump wrote. “Asked him how Rocket Man is doing,” he added, surprising the world with his new nickname for the North Korean leader. Trump also implied that as a result of the new sanctions, “long gas lines” are taking form in North Korea.
