The United States reportedly received intelligence information from Israel’s Mossad spy agency concerning an alleged Iranian plot to attack American interests in the Middle East, which many are attributing to the Trump Administration’s decision to deploy an additional aircraft carrier and a fleet of bombers to the region.
The information was transmitted two weeks ago to US National Security Advisor John Bolton, who, in a statement released Monday, derided Tehran and warned that it would face “unrelenting force” if US troops were targeted.
The war-of-words comes ahead of the one-year anniversary (May 8) of President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
In response, Iranian media reported the regime is planning to announce retaliatory steps against Washington that will include the “reduction of some of Iran’s commitments and restarting part of nuclear activities halted” in the framework of the accord.
The Media Line discussed developments over the past twelve months and what to possibly expect in the near future with Professor Meir Litvak, Director for the Alliance Center of Iranian Studies at Tel Aviv University.
