BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:20 P.M.) – The United States issued an implicit warning to Iran against approaching American ships in international waters.

According to the Reuters News Agency, the U.S. warned Iran to stay no less than 100 meters away from its ships, stressing that it would consider this to be a threat to the security of its forces.

Reuters said that the U.S. Navy issued a warning to seafarers in international waters, especially the Strait of Hormuz, to stay at least 100 meters from its warships.

The U.S. Navy said in its warning, according to the agency, that approaching less than 100 meters from U.S. military ships “may be considered a threat and faces legal defensive measures.”

A U.S. military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that this new warning does not represent a change in policy, but serves as a reminder to its enemies.

The issuance of this warning comes after the U.S. President Donald Trump directed the U.S. Navy to shoot any Iranian ships harassing American vessels.
