BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:40 A.M.) – The U.S. is willing to ease the sanctions on Syria if Russia is able to curb Iran’s influence inside the Levantine nation, a new report from the Arabic language version of the Sputnik News Agency claimed.

The Sputnik report claimed that this topic will be discussed during the security meeting between the U.S., Russia, and Israel in Jerusalem this month.

“The two sides will discuss a road map in which the United States and its allies will offer incentives to Moscow in Syria, such as restoring the legitimacy of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and lifting sanctions, in exchange for Russia’s commitment to contain Iran’s role in the country,” the Sputnik report claimed, citing Western diplomatic sources.

Over the weekend, the White House press office announced that U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton’s plans to meet his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, and Israeli Prime Minister Meir Ben Shabaat in June in Jerusalem to discuss regional security issues on a comprehensive scale.
