BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – A group of military defectors announced control over the La Carlota Airbase in Caracas, despite the contrasting claims from the Venezuelan government.
According to reports, armed men in military fatigues were seen in control of the interchange near the La Carlota Airbase.
Prior to these claims, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido announced the start of a military uprising inside the Bolivarian Republic.
The Venezuelan Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino has denied any major uprising inside the country, adding that his nation’s armed forces have been deployed to several areas.
Previously, a group of 300 military personnel announced their defection from the Venezuelan Armed Forces; however, despite declaring their loyalties to Juan Guaido, they were not used in any military capacity.
