In this video Dr Woodhead discusses the vision of the man with the measuring line. The man with the measuring line is not clearly identified by the Hebrew text in this verse. There are parallel passages in chapter 1:8; 6:12 and Ezekiel 40:3 identifying Him as the Angel of Jehovah. In light of those passages it becomes clearer that this is indeed again the Second person of the Trinity our Lord Jesus in a preincarnate appearance. In fact Zechariah 6:12 clearly demonstrates that this “man” is identified with a title of “The Branch.” The Messiah is measuring as a surveyor would to determine boundaries of land.Jerusalem was laying in ruins and is about to be inhabited again after seventy years of Gentile domination. In the far reaching prophecy Jerusalem will again by laying in ruins after the end of the Great Tribulation. Jerusalem will be the capital of the world and as such will have significant governmental buildings and a large population, which will require finely, defined land division.
