39 Feast of Tabernacles & Egypt

In message 39 of the book of Zechariah we see the results of Egypt mistreating Israel for many years. As punishment they will receive a forty-year period of desolation at the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom. They will be scattered throughout the world and then regathered. They will be brought back to their land but will never enjoy the political power they once had. They will make peace with Israel after they are destroyed and then converted to become a part of the Millennial Kingdom of believers. One of the requirements for Israel during the Kingdom will be to keep …

God With Us Always

Reflections I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (John 14:18) I am with you always. (Matt. 28:20) These are not merely sentimental promises meant to stir emotions. Rather, they are concrete promises of God based on the reality of Christ in us. The idea that God is floating around, comes and goes, is with us one day, and far away the next, is contrary to the Truth. We may FEEL like God is that way, but the Truth is not determined or apprehended by how we feel. Indeed, even if we feel like God is with …

The People God Uses

God doesn’t need highly skilled experts; He uses His power to accomplish great things through ordinary people 1 Corinthians 1:26 – 1:31 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, [are called]: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, [yea], and things which are not, to …

“I am a stranger with thee.” Psalm 39:12

Yes, O Lord, with thee, but not to thee. All my natural alienation from thee, thy grace has effectually removed; and now, in fellowship with thyself, I walk through this sinful world as a pilgrim in a foreign country. Thou art a stranger in thine own world. Man forgets thee, dishonours thee, sets up new laws and alien customs, and knows thee not. When thy dear Son came unto his own, his own received him not. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Never was foreigner so speckled a …

“I have glorified You on the earth by completing the work You gave Me to do.” John 17:4

Jesus is the only man who has ever lived—so as to be able to say this! The best lives are but fragments, leaving many things unfinished. Yet we ought to take a lesson from Christ’s finishing of His work. He did it, simply by doing each day—the will of His Father for the day. He was a young man when He died—only thirty-three. We think of those who die young—as dying before their work is completed. We learn, however, that even a young man, dying, may leave a finished work. The truth is, enough years are given to each one—in …

BLESSINGS OF OBEDIENCE

Luke 5:1-5 (KJV) 5 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, …

38 The Feast of Tabernacles

In message 38 of the book of Zechariah we see that the Gentile nations along with the Jews will be coming up to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Tabernacles (aka Booths). The ancient Israelites were required to appear before the Lord three times in the year (Exodus 23:17; Deuteronomy 16:16)—at the festivals of the Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. But the Gentiles are here required to present themselves only once. This will be to pay an annual homage to the King of the earth. For the ancient Jews this festival commemorated the ingathering of the harvest but also Divine protection and therefore it is a fitting symbol of their entrance into the Millennial Kingdom.

38 The Feast of Tabernacles

God loved us enough to send His Son to bear our sin on the cross so that we may be saved. (John 3:16- 17)

“He is not here, He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:6 He rose from the dead three days later and in doing so, He conquered death! He arose that we may have everlasting life. He did not stay on the cross. His work on the cross was completed when He said in a loud voice on the cross, “It is Finished!” He arose the third day because He is God! He has power over death. He also has the power to give us new life. Life everlasting through the Lord Jesus …

The Spirit of Truth

Reflections And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that will abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth. (John 14:16) The Spirit of God is the Spirit OF Truth. Jesus also said, “I AM the Truth.” But there is only ONE Truth. Thus, here we see the work of the Spirit: To reveal Jesus Christ. Jesus promised that the Spirit of God would guide us into all Truth. (John 16:13) But now we know what that means: It means to reveal Jesus, who IS the Truth. Jesus is to be revealed TO …

“He did it with all his heart and prospered.” 2 Chronicles 31:21

This is no unusual occurrence; it is the general rule of the moral universe that those men prosper who do their work with all their hearts, while those are almost certain to fail who go to their labour leaving half their hearts behind them. God does not give harvests to idle men except harvests of thistles, nor is he pleased to send wealth to those who will not dig in the field to find its hid treasure. It is universally confessed that if a man would prosper, he must be diligent in business. It is the same in religion as …

“Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:1

Christ has grace without measure in himself, but he hath not retained it for himself. As the reservoir empties itself into the pipes, so hath Christ emptied out his grace for his people. “Of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” He seems only to have in order to dispense to us. He stands like the fountain, always flowing, but only running in order to supply the empty pitchers and the thirsty lips which draw nigh unto it. Like a tree, he bears sweet fruit, not to hang on boughs, but to be gathered by those who …

Jesus The Messiah in the Passover

Introduction Abraham, the first Hebrew named in the Bible, received a covenant from the Lord God in approximately 2040 B.C. One of the components of that covenant was that at some time in the future his progeny would be enslaved by another nation. Genesis 15:13-14 13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance …

Walk by Faith

(Genesis 45:10–15) 10 And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children’s children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast: 11 And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty. 12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaketh unto you. 13 And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in …
