The Throne of Grace

Jesus sees what it is we really want and need, even when we don’t recognize what that might be Hebrews 4:13-16 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in …

“We know that all things work together for good to them that love God.” Romans 8:28

Upon some points a believer is absolutely sure. He knows, for instance, that God sits in the stern-sheets of the vessel when it rocks most. He believes that an invisible hand is always on the world’s tiller, and that wherever providence may drift, Jehovah steers it. That re-assuring knowledge prepares him for everything. He looks over the raging waters and sees the spirit of Jesus treading the billows, and he hears a voice saying, “It is I, be not afraid.” He knows too that God is always wise, and, knowing this, he is confident that there can be no accidents, no …

The Blues

1 Kings 19:1-9 19 Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your ]life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” 3 And he was afraid and arose and ran for his [e]life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. 4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came …

Blessing in Persecution

The Lord’s perspective on persecution differs from ours—He considers it a positive thing if we suffer in His name. 1 Peter 4:12-14 12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation. 14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God …

You On His Mind

Mentally, Jesus was drained. He hadn’t slept the night before. Physically, Jesus was decimated. He was beaten all night and cut to pieces that morning. Emotionally, Jesus was devastated. His closest friends had betrayed and abandoned Him. Spiritually, Jesus was darkened. The sins of the world were placed on Him. But, He was still thinking of others on the cross!!! He asked God the Father to forgive people (Luke 23:34). He saved a thief (Luke 23:43). He met His mom’s needs (John 19:26-27).

The Olive Tree Anti-Semitism and Bible Prophecy

Dr. Thomas S. McCall At a convention of the Pre-Trib Study Group in Dallas, Dr. John Walvoord presented a paper on the Pre-Tribulation Rapture and Premillennial teaching, including the history of doctrines throughout the Church age.  I was very much struck by something that Dr. Walvoord said as he analyzed the transition from widely held pre-millennial views of the early church in the first three centuries to the predominantly amillennial, postmillennial or anti-millennial views that developed afterwards, and it centered around Augustine. Latent Anti-Semitism Caused Amillennialism I appreciated especially what Dr. Walvoord said, as quoted from the audio tape of …

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7 KJV).

In and of ourselves, there is nothing special about us Christians. Who we are in Jesus Christ, now there is something special!! We have the privilege of standing before Father God in the manner Adam did before the Fall! In Christ, we have the same standing before Father God as Jesus Christ Himself! A very exciting truth, one that precious, precious, precious few believers are ever taught (sadly). Denominations always instruct them to strain and strive to have a right standing before God. They fail to realize that God places them in Christ at the very top of the ladder. …

Naked and Ashamed

Reflections And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked….and Adam said, “I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” (Gen. 3:7-10) BEFORE his sin, Adam was naked but unashamed. God created him to BE naked but unashamed. But AFTER his sin, Adam was naked but ashamed. Thus, the sin did not change the nakedness. Rather, the sin changed Adam – he was no longer unashamed — but ashamed, and afraid. The reason for Adam’s fear was that he was no longer one with God. God had been the source of …

“The people that do know their God shall be strong.” Daniel 11:32

Every believer understands that to know God is the highest and best form of knowledge; and this spiritual knowledge is a source of strength to the Christian. It strengthens his faith. Believers are constantly spoken of in the Scriptures as being persons who are enlightened and taught of the Lord; they are said to “have an unction from the Holy One,” and it is the Spirit’s peculiar office to lead them into all truth, and all this for the increase and the fostering of their faith. Knowledge strengthens love, as well as faith. Knowledge opens the door, and then through …

The Good Life

God has an eternal perspective, so we can trust in His goodness, even in dark times Psalm 100 100 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy …

Zechariah’s Special Golden Menorah and Two Olive Trees

Zechariah’s Vision of the Candlestick and The Olive Trees The prophet Zechariah received eight visions in one night in the fall of 520 B.C. assuring him that Israel had a future even though they had been in Babylon since 586 B.C. They would still have a future. In the book of Daniel God let’s us see the Gentile government control of world government bodies until the Lord sets up His Messianic Kingdom. In the book of Zechariah He let’s us see that the Gentiles do not have all the power and control that it seems. Here he shows Zechariah that …

Speak What He Teaches

“Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say” (Exodus 4:12). Many a true servant of the LORD is slow of speech, and when called upon to plead for his LORD, he is in great confusion lest he should spoil a good cause by his bad advocacy. In such a case it is well to remember that the LORD made the tongue which is so slow, and we must take care that we do not blame our maker. It may be that a slow tongue is not so great an evil as …
