Does God Let Your Prayers Go Unanswered?

In my fifty years of leadership and teaching at Dallas Theological Seminary I saw many dramatic answers to prayer. But I have also seen many of my prayers go unanswered. The answered prayers have built my faith, strengthened my walk with God, and given me hope in the midst of perplexing problems. But the silence of God creates tension for me. I find God’s silence difficult or sometimes impossible to explain. Is God Really Silent? Because of this tension, I have done a great deal of thinking and a great deal of Scripture-searching. I want to know why the same …

THE LANDMINE OF FEAR

Psalm 27:1-4 (KJV)27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days …

Behold, the Dead Horse

Pete GarciaJuly 8, 2019 Originally written back in 2013, I was always particularly fond of this message. I don’t remember it getting a lot of circulation back then, so I wanted to resurrect it and give it another go. I believe it is every bit as appropriate today, as it was back then. The main […]

JESUS IS GOD

When Jesus referred to Himself as the “Son of Man”, He spoke in reference to His Divine Incarnate self, and to the fact that He had become a human in order to bring atonement to the world. This is His Messianic title. Jesus referred to Himself by this title about 80 times in various aspects of His divine mission. These aspects are 1) His coming to be the Savior of the world in order to forgive sins, 2) His rejection and betrayal, 3) His death and resurrection, 4) His position as final Judge, and 5) His second coming in glory. …

SAVED BY GRACE

Ephesians 2:4-10 (KJV)4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9 Not of works, lest any …

Take a Look at Your Future (It’s Beautiful!)

Long, long ago, before man was created, the universe was flawlessly beautiful. The morning stars sang together and the angels shouted for joy. That is how God Himself describes the wonder of creation before angels fell and man sinned (Job 38:7). In that glorious day there was no sorrow or pain in God’s creation. Joy and peace reigned everywhere. But when sin entered the universe through the fall of Satan and spread to the human race, God predicted that sorrow would replace joy. To Eve He said, “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt …

The Return Of the Black Robe Regiment

Dr. Mike Murphy It was a cold January morning as the pastor approached the pulpit.   As he looked out at the full pews of the church, his emotions must have been churning at the sermon the Lord had called him to deliver that day.  As he concluded his sermon, he read from the third chapter of Ecclesiastes.  “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”  As he got to the eighth verse, his voice began to ring loud.  “A time of war, and a time of peace.”  “And today” he declared, “this …

THE NEED FOR SALVATION

Ephesians 2:1-3(KJV) 2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Followers of Christ know the importance of being saved, but the world sees no …

The Five Witnesses to the Truth of Jesus the Messiah

Introduction   At the time of Jesus, the ruling Jews did not believe who He was. Even though He proved to them by many facts and fulfilled prophecies, they nevertheless accused Him of blasphemy as they said He was making Himself out to equal with God (John 5:18). They had a validating procedure in place […]

Seeking God

”But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6) The word “seek” appears in KJV some 233 times. It is translated from the Greek word ekzeteo which means “to search out, investigate, worshipfully crave, seek after carefully.”This is the manner in which we come to the Lord – we seek Him out. I’ve never met anyone who came to salvation accidentally, or someone who came to know the Lord that wasn’t seeking the truth when …

The Separation of Church and State (A Short Treatise on our Heritage and our Future)

By Pete Garcia -July 4, 2019 243 years ago to the day, our liberty-minded forefathers (fifty-six British colonists representing thirteen colonies) committed the ultimate act of treason by declaring their independence from the then world’s number-one superpower, Great Britain. Having lived under a corrupt monarchical system, the founding fathers understood all too well what despotism looked like. They addressed this tyranny by declaring, But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide …
