“Question: “What is the spiritual gift of prophecy?”

by

Answer: The spiritual gift of prophecy is listed among the gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:10 and Romans 12:6. The Greek word translated “prophesying” or “prophecy” in both passages properly means to “speak forth” or declare the divine will, to interpret the purposes of God, or to make known in any way the truth of God which is designed to influence people. Many people misunderstand the gift of prophecy to be the ability to predict the future. While knowing something about the future may sometimes have been an aspect of the gift of prophecy, it was primarily a …

A Conversation With God

by

Dr, Mike MurphyFebruary 15, 2018 A conversation with God.  So many times we find ourselves desiring to hear from God, to hear His voice guiding us, giving needed direction to us. Others will say if they could only hear Him speak, then they could believe, then they would know He is real.  So many questions would be asked of God, if we could just have a conversation with Him, just one little chance for us to talk to Him.  So many who think to themselves, if I could just hear Him speak, all my questions would be answered.   Each time …

“Father, I have sinned.” Luke 15:18

by

“Father, I have sinned.” Luke 15:18 It is quite certain that those whom Christ has washed in his precious blood need not make a confession of sin, as culprits or criminals, before God the Judge, for Christ has forever taken away all their sins in a legal sense, so that they no longer stand where they can be condemned, but are once for all accepted in the Beloved; but having become children, and offending as children, ought they not every day to go before their heavenly Father and confess their sin, and acknowledge their iniquity in that character? Nature teaches that …

“Whereas the Lord was there.” Ezekiel 35:10

by

Edom’s princes saw the whole country left desolate, and counted upon its easy conquest; but there was one great difficulty in their way–quite unknown to them–“The Lord was there;” and in his presence lay the special security of the chosen land. Whatever may be the machinations and devices of the enemies of God’s people, there is still the same effectual barrier to thwart their design. The saints are God’s heritage, and he is in the midst of them, and will protect his own. What comfort this assurance yields us in our troubles and spiritual conflicts! We are constantly opposed, and …

From Emptiness to Fulfillment

God doesn’t want our life to feel empty, and a relationship with Him is the key to fulfillment From Emptiness to Fulfillment John 4:3 – 4:18 3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria. 5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with [his] journey, sat thus on the well: [and] it was about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a woman of …

HE REIGNS

by

Psalm 93(KJV) 93 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. 2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. 3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. 4 The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. 5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever. He …

Under His Wings

by

He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust. Psalm 91:4 Under His wings I am safely abiding, Tho the night deepens and tempests are wild; Still I can trust Him– I know He will keep me, He has redeemed me and I am His child. Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow! How the heart yearningly turns to His rest! Often when earth has no balm for my healing, There I find comfort and there I am blest. Under His wings, O what precious enjoyment! There will I hide till life’s trials are …

Genesis Message 60 Jacob’s Stairway to Heaven

by

In this video Dr Woodhead discusses Jacob’s dream which produced the image of a ladder. In Hebrew this is soolam סֻלָּם֙ This is a unique word. The Jewish encyclopedia refers to it as a hapax legomena. These are words or forms of words that occur once only. There are about 1,500 of these in the Old Testament; but only 400 are, strictly, “hapax legomena”; that is, are either absolutely new coinages of roots, or cannot be derived in their formation or in their specific meaning from other occurring stems. This occurrence of the word ladder is one of the 400 …
