The Great I AM

by

By David A. DePra Nine times in the gospel of John Jesus says, “I am…….” These statements are familiar to most believers. He said:I am the Way.I am the Truth.I am the Life.I am the Resurrection.I am the True Vine.I am the Bread of Life.I am the Door.I am the Good Shepherd.I am the Light. There are also numerous other, “I am….,” statements in scripture, such as, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” etc. Each of these statements point out a particular dimension of the nature and character of Jesus Christ – but more specifically – points out how …

The Turn of the Tide: Part I

by

by Pete GarciaThe Greek philosopher Aristotle once said that tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society. My understanding is that he is using these two virtues (tolerance and apathy) with a negative connotation in mind. Meaning that they are the predominant attitudes of a society on its way to decline and ultimately, extinction. Meaning that any nation who tolerates or is apathetic to that which is antithetical to existence is destined for destruction. While this article is primarily aimed at my American audience, there are two truth-isms I want to convey to everyone. The first is that …

THE MINISTRIES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN RELATIONSHIP TO SCRIPTURE

by

There are three ministries of the Holy Spirit in relationship to Scripture: revelation, inspiration, and illumination. A. The Ministry of Revelation Revelation means, “receiving and unveiling the truth.” Revelation is the unveiling of something that has not been revealed heretofore. The source of divine revelation that of unveiling unrevealed truth is the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, this is taught by II Samuel 23:2-3; Ezekiel 2:2; 8:3; 11:1, 24; and Micah 3:8. In the New Testament, this is taught by John 16:12-15; I Corinthians 2:9-10; and II Peter 1:21. Revelation concerns the receiving of truth from God. B. The …

One Mediator

by

Reflections For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Tim 2:5) A, “mediator,” is a proxy; one who connects two parties. Jesus Christ is the sole Mediator between the believer and God. If Christ is in us, then by His very presence in us, we are joined to both Him and the Father. Now, notice what this means: It means that there must NEVER be anyone or anything introduced into our relationship with God who acts as ANOTHER mediator. There are no mediators in addition to Christ – there is no …

HOW TO SERVE GOD

by

Titus 3:5-8(KJV)5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. When we encounter opportunities to …

A Nation Disintegrates Because of Sin

by

Isaiah 3:1–4 1For, behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water; 2the mighty man, and the man of war; the judge, and the prophet, and the diviner, and the elder; 3the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the expert artificer, and the skilful enchanter, 4And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. (ASV, 1901). In previous chapters God has been using the prophet Isaiah to let the people of the world, and particularly …

The Trial of Faith

by

Reflections From the Psalms Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble? (Ps. 10:1) One of the traits of any trial of faith is that it will seem as if God is indeed, “afar off.” It will often seem like He is indifferent. Perhaps the greatest trauma in any trial of faith is the sense that, for reasons unknown to us, God has forsaken us. We may cry, “Why are you hiding Yourself from me, Lord?” Of course, God has not forsaken us. Neither is He hiding Himself from us. The problem, therefore, …

8–Degeneration of a Nation

by

The result of the unrepentant sin will be young and inexperienced leadership assuming control and oppressing everybody. The people will not respect them and will not subordinate themselves to this nonsensical leadership. This will result in anarchy and a state of affairs wherein everyone will consider themselves capable of exercising authority, thereby forcing their will […]

By Grace Through Faith

by

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph. 2:8-10)The relationship between grace, faith, and our works, is given in this passage. In short, we are saved BY grace, THROUGH faith, UNTO good works. If we alter this relationship we are in danger of creating a false gospel; a false Christianity. It is a fact that faith would be in …

In Your Anger Do Not Sin

by

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley “In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold (Ephesians 4:26).” This is the verse the Lord impressed upon my heart as I was asking for a topic for this article. It’s familiar to anyone who has ever experienced any Christian counseling, and like many Bible verses it bears closer examination. Translations differ slightly in rendering this passage and the Greek contains some interesting insights, but Paul was quoting from Psalm 4 where the intent of the …

The Power of the Holy Spirit

by

Because we can’t become Christlike on our own, we must let the Holy Spirit produce godly characteristics in us. GALATIANS 5:22-26 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another. The Holy Spirit is vital to the Christian life. Read about …
