The Way to Hear God Better

by

Matthew 17:5 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. Our ability to hear the Lord is directly related to our relationship with Him. For example, without hearing the call to repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ, an unbeliever cannot become part of God’s family. Unless this vital step has been taken, nothing else God does or says to that person will make a difference. But what about believers? How does a Christian’s …

Why Does God Allow Hurricanes, Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters?

by

By: The John Ankerberg Show With recent hurricanes, earthquakes, fires and other natural disasters devastating many around our world,  numerous people are asking, “Why does God allow suffering through natural disasters?” The Bible does not record a direct explanation regarding the purpose of such events, but does address some of the reasons natural disasters occur.   Part of Life in a Fallen World The Bible presents our world as good, yet imperfect. Part of living in a fallen world includes the natural cycles of storms across the globe. Inevitably, some natural disasters impact populated areas that harm or destroy lives. Sometimes …

The Ride of Your Life

Esther 7:3-5 3 Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: 4 For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king’s damage. 5 Then the king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where …

Because He Lives We Live Also

by

“The exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead.” Ephesians 1:19-20 In the resurrection of Christ, as in our salvation, there was put forth nothing short of a divine power. What shall we say of those who think that conversion is wrought by the free will of man, and is due to his own betterness of disposition? When we shall see the dead rise from the grave by their own power, then may we expect to see ungodly sinners of …

The Fog Is Lifting

Esther 7:1-2 7 So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen. 2 And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom. Imagine swimming in a vast lake and getting three or four hundred yards offshore when suddenly a freak fog rolls in and surrounds you. You’re trapped in this tiny circle of diffused light, but you can’t see beyond your …

The Light of Men

by

Reflections In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4) How does a person receive LIGHT – which is the true knowledge of God in Christ JESUS? John says that the LIGHT is in His LIFE. Jesus is a Person who is both the LIGHT and the LIFE. He said so. Thus, BOTH are found in Him alone. Or, to put it another way, if Christ is in us, He is our life — but this is why it is then possible to grow to know Him — because He is likewise the personification of …

The Sabbath: A Christian Biblical Perspective

by

By Daniel E. Woodhead, Ph.D  The word Sabbath as a  direct command, first appears in Scripture in Exodus. It is first stated during the narrative of the story of the Jews who were traveling from Elim to Sinai. It would be at Sinai where they would receive the Law from God after leaving the four hundred year captivity in Egypt.   Exodus 16: 23 And he said unto them, This is that which Jehovah hath spoken, Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy sabbath unto Jehovah: bake that which ye will bake, and boil that which ye will boil; and all …

The Religious Leaders Plot To Kill Jesus

Mark 14:1-2 1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. 2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people (KJV). The events of Passover week had transpired to the point where Jesus was preparing for His sacrifice on the Passover thereby giving His life for the world’s people. While His sacrifice would be available to the entire population of the earth it would only be effective to those who …

Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him. 14 And while they were yet talking with him, came the king’s chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet …

By His Matchless Grace are We Saved

by

OUR SALVATION IS STRICTLY GIVEN BY THE GRACE OF GOD   Ephesians 2: 1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Unregenerate people are dead spiritually and therefore like the physically dead are unable to communicate with the living God. The spiritually living are those who have been born again and are connected to God. They have been made alive by believing the gospel and receiving the Holy Spirit. Interestingly God says, “You will seek Me and find Me when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Deuteronomy 4:29; Jeremiah 29:13; Psalm 14:2; Isaiah 55:6-7 …

The Heart of Our Faith

Galatians 2:15-16 15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Paul believed nothing merited his boasting more than the cross (Gal. 6:14). He had good reason to think so: God’s entire plan of salvation hangs upon two …
