Salvation Leads to Better Things

The Bible describes the concept of salvation as one of deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, and soundness. It can mean saving in a bodily sense in some instances from some peril. More importantly though it refers to spiritual salvation from the judgment of God which is reserved for God’s enemies, including unbelievers. Salvation is the great inclusive word of the Gospel. It is a collective word embracing all the redemptive acts and processes associated with it. Included within it are: justification, redemption, grace, propitiation, imputation, forgiveness, sanctification, and glorification. Salvation associated with the Gospel is presented in three tenses; 1) The …

Whose Battle?

Whose Battle? “And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands” (1 Samuel 17:47). Let this point be settled, that the battle is the LORD’s, and we may be quite sure of the victory, and of the victory in such a way as will best of all display the power of God. The LORD is too much forgotten by all men, yea, even by the assemblies of Israel; and when there is an opportunity to make men see that the …

PRAISING THE LAMB OF GOD

PRAISING THE LAMB OF GOD Revelation 5:1-14 5 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the back, close sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3 And no one in the heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon. 4 And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, …

Russian Superweapons – by Hal Lindsey

Russian Superweapons – by Hal Lindsey President Trump’s critics seem to have their wish. The Cold War is on again! Over the last few days, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a series of new superweapons. Among those weapons is what he called an “invincible,” nuclear-capable, intercontinental cruise missile that travels at 20 times the speed of sound. He said, “No defense systems will be able to withstand it.” According to Russian media, the so-called “Satan 2” can wipe out an area the size of Texas or France. Putin also showed off next-generation ICBMs, underwater drones, and nuclear depth charges. Russia …

Itching Ears

Reflections Itching Ears For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (II Tim. 4:3-4) If I have been deceived, there are REASONS – there are reasons why people believe error rather than the Truth. And it is a fact that those reasons are found in our own hearts. Only through knowing Jesus Christ and giving ourselves to Him can our heart be made pure, and can …

“Whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35

“Whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35 “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35). “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). “I am the good shepherd” (John 10:14). “I am the true vine” (John 15:1). “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). Here is the great I AM saying what He is. And then you notice how frequently He links with that a ‘shall’. The ‘shalls’ of the ‘I am’s’ in John’s Gospel are tremendously impressive – not always using the exact word, but in the …

“Man … is of few days, and full of trouble.” Job 14:1

“Man … is of few days, and full of trouble.” Job 14:1 It may be of great service to us, before we fall asleep, to remember this mournful fact, for it may lead us to set loose by earthly things. There is nothing very pleasant in the recollection that we are not above the shafts of adversity, but it may humble us and prevent our boasting like the Psalmist in our morning’s portion. “My mountain standeth firm: I shall never be moved.” It may stay us from taking too deep root in this soil from which we are so soon to …

Question: “Is ‘you reap what you sow’ biblical?”

Question: “Is ‘you reap what you sow’ biblical?” Answer: According to the Bible, do you reap what you sow? The principle of sowing and reaping is common throughout the Bible, because it is something that humanity can relate to. The practice of working the ground to gain a harvest is nearly as old as humanity itself. Part of Adam’s curse was that the ground would bring forth thorns and thistles in response to his work and that “by the sweat of your brow you will eat your food” (Genesis 3:19). Adam understood the concept of “you reap what you sow” …

“Abide in me.” John 15:4

“Abide in me.” John 15:4 Communion with Christ is a certain cure for every ill. Whether it be the wormwood of woe, or the cloying surfeit of earthly delight, close fellowship with the Lord Jesus will take bitterness from the one, and satiety from the other. Live near to Jesus, Christian, and it is a matter of secondary importance whether thou livest on the mountain of honour or in the valley of humiliation. Living near to Jesus, thou art covered with the wings of God, and underneath thee are the everlasting arms. Let nothing keep thee from that hallowed intercourse, …

The Lord Judges the Nations

Introduction Ezekiel chapters 25-32 details Divine judgments against nations that have risen up many times against Israel as their adversaries. There are seven people groups singled out, and the text divides them in two groups. The first is a group of four that includes Ammon, Moab, Edom and the Philistines.  The second group is a group of three that includes Tyre, Zidon and Egypt. Their presence posed a constant spiritual as well as physical danger to Israel’s relationship to God and seemed to be a persistent frustration of the …
